Food for the Soul

With the warming spring and mother nature doing her best to provide us with good growing conditions, is it time to look at what we can produce ourselves to trade or give to others? Not only does growing produce and cooking provide us a good dose of endorphins it grounds us, feeds the soul and feeds others. When you look through an old family recipe book and find Grannies scone recipe with homemade raspberry jam, you can taste the beautiful memories of conversation and stories that help nurture us...

Do you have a 'living' list?

Like a bucket list, but why wait till the end is nearing? This is your list of things you want to achieve in life.I wrote myself a list of 101 things to achieve in and ave called it My Living List. The reason I wrote 101 was that I had noticed that I had said on more than one occasion that I had 101 things to do, so I challenged myself to do it. It motivated me to break through the fears and hurdles holding me back, and now with the list ticked off – nothing is unachievable. Here’s the ...

Finding your purpose

“I can honestly tell you that I am the happiest I have ever been in my life.”Now that is a statement that creates conversation and debate, and probably always will. For me having inner peace and tranquillity are the catalysts to a happier and satisfying life. It has been a long journey of self-evaluation to find a balance of being true to myself and letting go of ego related career aspirations, relationships that are not serving me well and beliefs that are not helpful or true.I had that mome...

Bliss - what is it?

One of the most rewarding aspects of mentoring is helping people find their bliss. It seems obvious that we should all know what makes us happy, but sometimes we lose sight of this in our very busy lives.I love helping people get back to what makes them tick. They may get a buzz from certain activities, whether it’s painting, gardening or sky diving, but perhaps they haven’t done them for a while. It’s good to remember what gives you that certain lift or buzz. Often I help people write a l...

‘Busy’ is now banned from my vocab

A new year is a great time full of hope and renewed enthusiasm for the coming 12 months. This is what makes it such a great time to set new goals, challenges and routines to support a ‘new you’.You may decide to do a 5km fun run, take up some study, or commit to making your lunches during the week to save money and unwanted calories. This year I’ve decided to choose my words wisely. I’m a firm believer that surrounding yourself with positive things nourishes your soul. That’s why I ofte...

De-cluttering for the ultimate feel-good factor

Want to give yourself an instant lift? De-clutter your life. I’m serious! One of the first things I encourage someone I’m coaching to do is to de-clutter the spaces around them, both at work and home. What a hassle you may say, but once you start you will get such a boost you won’t want to stop. Even serious hoarders get addicted after a while. That’s because de-cluttering symbolises making way for a new era in your life. I know myself, once I de-cluttered I had more room in my mind for po...

Take baby steps towards achieving goals

Goal setting is an important part of life mentoring – which probably comes as no surprise! Most people are really good at setting SMART goals (that’s goals that are: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound). When we set them we’re genuinely committed to making them happen, but sometimes all the enthusiasm in the world still won’t help you actually achieve your goals. So here’s the advice I give my clients: take baby steps. You are more likely to be successful if you break y...

Feeling the fear

My heart was beating so fast as I watched the clouds around me drifting by, why did I put this on my to do list? This thought and many more were racing through my head as the little plane got up to its required 10,000 feet destination. With my knees huddled up next to my chest I started some deep breaths to calm myself down. I started consciously thinking of women during  wars that had jumped from a much higher distance than this, without the knowledge of what conditions they were going to j...

Loving your liver

I learnt so much from reading Dr Libby’s Rushing Women’s Syndrome book and I highly recommend it.One of the lightbulb moments I had from the book was that I wasn’t loving my liver as much as I could have. Dr Libby’s book reminded me just how important my liver is. Goodness, that is one amazingly hard-working human organ! It’s so clever at clearing out all the toxins from my body and here I was loading it up with more! Just living in our society with car fumes, pesticides and other thin...

Meeting my soul mate

I decided this time round that I would write a poem, a very specific one that detailed exactly what I wanted my soul mate to be like. My previous relationships had mostly come about by accident and one was a blind date, by accident I mean you meet at a party, at work etc. you get asked out and before long you are in another relationship, well that was my story anyway.None of that was going to happen again, I analysed the past relationships and realised that I had spent more time shopping for gro...

Getting back in touch with myself

Denise is a truly talented and exceptional human. When setting up my business I thought I was on top of things, but in hindsight, I wouldn’t be where I am today without her help.  She introduced me to the technicalities associated with starting up a new business. While also increased my confidence by developing my life skills, my mind, and my soul.  Denise’s passion and motivation is inspiring. Her dedication and care for others is far beyond society’s expectations, and her attit...

Staying on track with regular reflection

I started working with Denise about 18 months ago. At the time I was very bored and uninspired at work, so I started having regular sessions with Denise to explore my options for earning a living outside the industry I’ve worked in for the past 20 years. We looked at all my interests, hobbies, talents and generic skills and brainstormed the options. Denise encouraged me to think outside the square and to dream a little. At the same time, we looked into things in my personal life and how to make ...

Learning to focus and prioritise energy outputs

Running a small business, and as a sole operator, can be an isolated experience. Having someone to bounce ideas off, who is empathetic and knowledgeable, is incredibly helpful and supportive. I took advantage of Denise Hart’s package offer of six meetings in 2015 in order to help me focus my business and prioritise my energy and outputs. It’s now mid-2016 and we’re still meeting – that’s because I have found Denise’s style, knowledge, energy, understanding and support to be of great ...
